As the saying goes, “He who controls the morning controls the day,” how you use your time in the morning has a big impact on your motivation and productivity for the rest of the day. If you always end up sleeping until the last minute and rushing out of the house in a hurry, why not wake up a little earlier and adopt a “morning routine”? This time, we will introduce five recommended morning routines that will give you peace of mind and dramatically change the way you use your time.
The first thing to do is to “drink a glass of hot water.” In addition to replenishing fluids lost while you sleep, the warm water gently wakes up your stomach and intestines and boosts your metabolism. The key is to drink hot water first before coffee.
The second is ``light stretching while soaking up the morning light.’’ Opening the curtains and soaking up the morning sun resets your body’s internal clock, switching from the sleep hormone melatonin to the activity hormone serotonin. Simply stretching out on the bed is also effective.
The third step is to ``write down your three most important tasks (MITs) for the day.’’ While your mind is clear in the morning, write down the tasks that you absolutely must complete today and prioritize them. This allows you to work without hesitation during the day.
The fourth thing is to “secure time for digital detox.” Instead of looking at your phone as soon as you wake up and getting bombarded with social media and news, try spending the first 30 minutes of the morning without looking at your phone and spending time with yourself, such as reading, meditating, or enjoying a quiet breakfast.
The fifth thing to do is to ``clean up some housework.’’ For example, doing small chores that only take 5 minutes, such as cleaning the dishes in the sink or putting together the trash, will make you feel much better when you get home. Another great benefit is that you can feel a sense of accomplishment in the morning.
You don’t have to do everything from the beginning. Start your day with just one thing that makes you feel good.
